Biography

Picture
Currently residing in Boston, Foxman James has studied and performed in cities across the United States and Europe. She holds a BM in Viola Performance from the Lawrence Conservatory in Appleton WI, where she studied with Matthew Michelic, and an MM in Viola Performance from the Boston Conservatory, where she studied with Rictor Noren. She has studied with Eric Shumsky, Erica Eckert, Emmanuel Vardi, and Jason Meyer. 


A diverse performer, Ms. James emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded approach to the arts. In addition to classical music, Ms. James has recorded and performed with several rock and pop bands, and won an award for Outstanding Musicianship at the the 2003 Mile High Jazz Festival in Boulder Colorado. In addition to music, Ms. James actively pursues other artistic outlets, such as painting and dance. She has shown in art shows at several venues in Boston, and currently teaches swing dance classes at MIT.


Foxman James teaches both violin and viola. Her private studio is located in Boston, and she is on the permanent faculty of the Boston School of Music Arts in Dorchester.
